When you hear the words Dwayne Johnson, Polynesian and Pacific Island culture, Disney and coming soon(!!), what do you think of? If you are me, or any number of Disney fans, I hope the answer to that question is Moana!
From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Moana,” a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auli‘i Cravalho) meets the once-mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity. Directed by the renowned filmmaking team of Ron Clements and John Musker (“The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” “The Princess & the Frog”) and produced by Osnat Shurer (“Lifted,” “One Man Band”), “Moana” sails into U.S. theaters on Nov. 23, 2016.
Q and I have been (not so patiently) waiting for this movie to come out for many, many months. Ever since I first heard about the movie and saw the early trailers, I was hooked and could not wait to see it. I’ve always liked Dwayne Johnson as an actor (though in truth my like of him goes back to his days as The Rock, ha) and was really excited to see and hear that this movie was going to be bringing some stories from the people of the Pacific Islands. My dad grew up in the Philipines and also lived in Hawai’i, so for some unknown reason, I have always been drawn to the islands and their stories. There has always been something magical for me about the Ocean and the stories and beliefs around it.
In case you are not familiar with it, here is a trailer for Moana.
Incredible, right? I get all pumped up every time I watch it. And is it just me or does that music give you chills too?
Now here is my favourite part.
The amazing folks at Walt Disney Studios Canada have given me a family pass to give away to one of my awesome readers. This pass is for the advanced screening in Vancouver on Monday November 21st at 7:00pm, and is going to held at SilverCity Riverport. The pass is good for a family of 4, so that everyone can come and enjoy it together!
As always, I like to keep it easy to enter, so all you need to do is leave me a comment and tell me what you love best about the ocean. Is it a particular fish? The mythology? Something totally different? Once you’ve done that, come back here and click on the Rafflecopter form to let me know you’ve done it. After you’ve done that (and please do, because I hate having to disqualify entries), you will have some bonus entry options as well, depending on how badly you want to win and how much you love us here. Ha, just kidding. Kind of.
Now for the official stuff. The winner will be contacted by email and will have 24 hrs to respond, or another winner will be drawn. You must not have won a pass from another site. Winner will be provided with a pass by email, which must be printed and presented at the theatre. The winner is responsible for all costs and transportation.
Good luck, and let me know if you need help with the Rafflecopter form, let me know and I’ll do my best to help you.
