Another week, another Music Monday. This is one of my favourites to do each week and I hope that you are finding some new songs to jam to. I’m going to be honest and say that I’m feeling a bit draggy today. I’m recovering from bronchitis (yay), I’m nervous about my upcoming surgery and nerve block, and all that good stuff. So today my goal was just to find some songs that perk me up and hope that they do the same for you. It’s pretty varied, but I am really happy with the ones I have found, and my wish is that you are too.
Spontaneous dance parties are always the best and never a bad idea, at least not in my family.
Rose Tattoo – Dropkick Murphys
DKM has been one of my absolute favourite bands for years. They are so real and unpretentious, and they are AMAZING live. We haven’t missed a show in over a decade. They were a band that we discovered at a festival many years ago and honestly? They can pretty much do no wrong in my books. Their brand of Celtic punk is rocking and this song is pretty upbeat and easy to sing along to. If you aren’t familiar with the band, this is a good introduction to them.
Geronimo – Sheppard
Q and I have heard this song in two movies recently, and it’s fun, catchy melody and chorus makes me smile every time.
Fight Song – Rachel Platten
I first heard this song while watching the Ellen show. A young woman who was a cancer survivor had performed it at her school and she was invited to come and sing it on the show. She was surprised with the opportunity to sing it with Rachel Platten and it gave me shivers. I can really, really relate to the song too right now. It is an inspiring battle cry for me.
Work this body – Walk the Moon
This is another song that I heard in a movie recently. It is fun, and makes me want to get up and dance every time I hear it. So get up and shake your stuff. You won’t regret it.
Dessert– Dawin ft Silento
I heard this song when it was used for a hip hop routine on So You Think You Can Dance, liked it and then pretty much forgot about it. It was also in a movie we saw this weekend, and I liked it enough to make Q wait till the song listing part of the credits to find out what it was. It’s different, but totally fun.
So there you have my picks of the week. What is on repeat on your playlist right now?
