Songs to get you moving – Music Monday

Happy Monday friends! I know I haven’t done Music Monday for a few weeks, but it’s 2016 and I don’t think that anyone should have to face a new week without some awesome tunes to get you through, so I’m starting it up again.

This week I wanted to feature some tunes that get us all pumped up and moving, in the hopes that they will do the same for you. There are few things funner than a spontaneous dance party when an awesome song comes on, or at least in my world anyways.

Here are some of the songs we are grooving to this week:

Juicy Wiggle – Red Foo

We first saw this song in the new Alvin and the Chipmunks movie, Roadchip and both Q and I were hooked right away. This song is infectiously fun and every time either of us hears it we have to “move our hips and dance like fish.” Perfect for an anytime, anywhere groove.

Dance Apocalyptic – Janelle Monae

I happened upon this song recently, totally by accident, while browsing through Spotify trying to find some new music. Although the ending to the song is a nit weird, it’s a fun tine that makes me want to get up and shake around like an earthquake.

Lean On – Major Lazer, MO, DJ Snake

This is one of Q’s other favourite songs right now, along with Juicy Wiggle. The first time I actually heard it, we were in a car heading to my dad’s memorial and Q was singing along. I love the Indian vibe to the song and the beat just gets into your head and pretty much forces you to move. Funny story, Q has never seen the video for this song, but has always had a very specific set of moves that he does. While watching the video for this post, I noticed that a lot of his moves are very similar to those in the video. He genuinely feels the music when he moves, and these are just the moves that felt right.

Lay it all on me – Rudimental ft. Ed Sheeran

I have loved this song since the first time I heard it, which just happened to be the day it dropped. Now, it is no secret that I adore Ed Sheeran, and think that he is a musical genius. I think that the pairing between Ed and Rudimental is perfect, moody, deep and amazing.

Can’t feel my face – The Weeknd

This catchy tune is currently the song set to wake me up every morning, and this morning, I woke up to discover the dude dancing away beside my bed. It’s fun, and I will warn you now, there is a good chance that you will be walking along singing “I can’t feel my face when I’m with you, but I love it…”

Let’s Dance – David Bowie

I didn’t feel right not including this classic by David Bowie. Although I have never been a massive Bowie fan, I’ve always loved this one. I think it is a fitting tribute to a very influential artist of our time.

So, let’s dance. Anywhere, anytime.

What is getting you moving right now?
